Today we’ll be talking about the renowned writer Maggie O’Farrell. Born in Northern Ireland in 1972, in the year 2000 she published her debut novel, After You’d Gone, and she is now the author of highly acclaimed novels such as The Hand That First Held Mine, Instructions for a Heatwave, This Must Be the Place, My lover’s lover, and more. Her novel Hamnet was named by the New York Times, as one of the 10 Best Books of the Year. This novel also won two major prizes, the Women’s Prize for Fiction, and the 2020 National Book Critics Circle Award. In 2022, she published The Marriage Portrait, a novel based on the short life of Lucrezia de Medici, which was shortlisted for the 2023 Women’s Prize for Fiction. Maggie’s novels have been Sunday Times bestsellers and all together have sold over a million copies in the UK and Ireland and have been translated into 43 languages around the world. In them she explores contrasting themes –madness, treachery, love, loss…. – but they all share her masterful craft and incomparable prose.

Hoy hablaremos de la reconocida escritora Maggie O’Farrell. Nacida en Irlanda del Norte en 1972, publicó su primera novela en el año 2000, After You’d Gone, y es actualmente autora de novelas aclamadas como La primera mano que sostuvo la mía, Instrucciones para una ola de calor, This Must Be the Place, y otras. Su novela Hamnet fue nombrada por el New York Times como uno de los 10 mejores libros del año. Esta novela también ganó dos premios importantes, el Premio de la Mujer para la Ficción y el Premio Nacional del Círculo de Críticos de Libros 2020. En 2022 publicó El Retrato de Casada, una novela basada en la corta vida de Lucrezia de Medici, que fue seleccionada para el Premio de Ficción de la Mujer 2023. Las novelas de Maggie han sido los best sellers del Sunday Times y todas juntas han vendido más de un millón de copias en el Reino Unido e Irlanda y se han traducido a 43 idiomas.
